On our twitter feed I mentioned Sweet Juniper's posts about the changing neighborhoods of Detroit and his photo of a street where 60 of 66 homes have been boarded up and abandoned.
It reminded me of something I came across while doing research on sense of place for Beyond Issue 15 (Where We Are): a sequence of text and photos by Neddie Jingo on Thanksgiving 2005.
In the two years since they moved into their voluminous 8,000-square-footer on the edge of Virginia's suburbs, the Bennett family has not once used their formal dining room, where the table is eternally set for eight with crystal, an empty tea set and two unlighted candles.
